5 AEW Vs WWE Dream Matches

Back in the early 2000’s, Vince McMahon bought WCW and WWE hosted an invasion company against WWE teaming with ECW. WWE would obviously go on to win this, and absorb the other two companies. In modern-day, the Forbidden Door is well and truly open, with only WWE hiding away from the rest of the wrestling world.

In a few weeks, AEW and NJPW will hold their first event together, but what if WWE and AEW did a pay per view event together? What matches would you like to see on the card? Here are our top five matches we’d love to see in a WWE v AEW event, and who would win each match.

Sasha Banks v Jade Cargill

Jade Cargill has been undefeated during in her time with AEW thus far. Sasha Banks has been arguably the top female wrestler in WWE for years now. This would be a women’s match of the highest billing. Sasha could give Jade a run for her money in the ring, putting on an entertaining match that eventually she should win giving Jade her first defeat.

It is a match that would allow Jade to be put over as ‘that bitch’ being dominated throughout the match, but Sasha would have to show her experience to win the match and keep Jade strong.

After the Jade and her baddies could assault Sasha, showing her that the woman’s division is different in AEW to that of WWE.

Winner — Sasha Banks

‘Hangman’ Adam Page v Seth Rollins

‘Hangman’ Adam Page has recently been proving he’s one of the best in AEW during his World Championship title reign. WWE Superstar, Seth Rollins has in recent years been showing his fantastic character work, showing he can get anything over. But most importantly, both are fantastic wrestlers in the ring.

This would be a back and forth match with neither competitor giving in easily. For us, Seth Rollins just gets the win over ‘Hangman’ as he has experience that Page doesn’t yet have, and is well known for cheating the system in order to get a win.

Winner: Seth Rollins

The Uso v The Young Bucks

The Usos are regularly called the best tag team in the world by WWE fans, and The Young Bucks are called the same by, themselves, and some fans in the AEW quarters. Going into this match you would have to have The Young Bucks holding the AEW Tag Team Championships and The Usos holding all of the tag gold in WWE.

This would be a back and forth match, full of stunts off the top rope so you would want this to be a stipulation based match, perhaps a TLC match. This would allow The Bucks and The Usos to both be able to show what they are good at, and that is fast, high flying action.

Ultimately, The Young Bucks have to be the winners here for us. They are better than The Uso’s at acting and character work, and although both teams are close in the ring, The Young Bucks are known for getting the win no matter what.

This would be a potential match of the year candidate, and one that a lot of wrestling fans would love to see.

Winner: The Young Bucks

The Rock vs Maxwell Jacob Friedman

We know that The Rock hasn’t been seen in a WWE ring for many years. We also know that Maxwell Jacob Friedman is considering leaving AEW when his contract runs out in 2024. However, presuming that this AEW v WWE event happened before MJF left AEW to become a Superstar, we would love to see him take on The Rock — perhaps putting on a feud with MJF and The Rock going between WWE and AEW programming before the big event.

MJF and The Rock are the two best stars on the microphone and you’d get some of the best segments cut here as I discussed in my post on Inside The Ropes recently.

When it comes to the match, you’ve got a straight fighting legend against a rising star who will do anything to get a victory. In this one, we see MJF getting the victory after distracting the referee and having Shawn Spears through his Dynamite Diamond Ring over the ropes, for MJF to cheat The Rock out of a win in his big return match. The Rock get a Rock Bottom and a People’s Elbow in, for ‘sports entertainment’ reasons, obviously, but MJF would kick out and show that he is no push over in the ring, even if he does have to cheat to to beat the WWE legend.

Winner : Maxwell Jacob Friedman

Kenny Omega v Roman Reigns

Kenny Omega is possibly the biggest star in American and Canadian wrestling to have never crossed over into WWE. Roman Reigns is the biggest WWE star since probably, John Cena. Together you have a match made in heaven, the kind the fans love to want and debate what would happen. Think Sting v Triple H, one of those matches you thought you would never see.

Kenny Omega is certainly the stronger wrestler, where as Roman Reigns has more star power, mainly given to him just by being in WWE. Kenny Omega recently defended Roman when a fan suggested that Kenny Omega would beat him easily.

As Kenny suggests in his post on Twitter, Roman is the top guy in WWE for a reason, Vince doesn’t just push anyone. Look at all of the stars that have been top stars elsewhere and haven’t made it all the way to the top in WWE.

We think this match would be back and forth, and a long one perhaps going over 15–20 minutes. However, after a tough match we see Roman going over Kenny Omega, and making The Cleaner acknowledge him.

After the match The Usos would come out and and help Roman take Kenny apart, before The Bucks coming for the save, and we have a The Elite vs The Bloodline stand off in the middle of the ring. This could be a moment to give you chills, and we are all for it.

Winner: Roman Reigns
